Comments: A firm favourite among local riders, this route delivers a true taste of adventure. From rugged mountain passes and wide-open valleys to stream and river crossings, every kilometre offers something different. The feeling of remoteness out here is second to none, with stunning scenery and plenty of opportunities to soak in the wilderness.

Ride smart and keep left on blind corners, and always keep an eye out for wandering cattle. The Okuku River crossing, roughly halfway through the route, is usually shallow and straightforward to navigate. However, after heavy rain it can rise quickly and become much more challenging, so take a moment to assess conditions before crossing.

River conditions

Before heading out, check the Okuku River level

As a guide, river flows above 2 m³/s can become challenging for larger adventure bikes.
